Digitization project of the IMD archives

As one of its main tasks IMD has committed itself to the scholarly application of the singular archival materials and to making them accessible via new media. Since May 2010 IMD works intensely on capture, description and digitization of the precious archive inventory of the International Summer Course for New Music, one of the most important collections for music history after 1945. The archive contains the correspondence with important protagonists of New Music like Pierre Boulez, Theodor W. Adorno, Luigi Nono or Bruno Maderna, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Wolfgang Rihm, Helmut Lachenmann and Brian Ferneyhough, as well as a picture archive with more than 10.000 Summer Course photos from 1946 on and sound recordings of concerts, lectures and courses from 1948 on.
