Molinari, Ernesto (Clarinet)

Born 1956 in Lugano/Switzerland. Studied clarinet in Basel and bass clarinet in Amsterdam. His active performing schedule as chamber musician and as soloist has taken him to the most important festivals throughout Europe, such as the Festival d’Automne in Paris, the Salzburg and the Lucerne Festivals, and Wien Modern. Along with the interpretation of classical, romantic, and contemporary repertoire, Molinari practices jazz and improvisation. He premiered numerous works which have been composed for him. Radio and CD recordings, including works by Arnold Schönberg, Brian Ferneyhough, Jean Barraqué, Michael Jarrell and Emanuel Nunes document his activities.

Ernesto Molinari was a member of Klangforum Wien from 1994 to 2005. He presently lives in Bern and has a teaching appointment at the Conservatory there. Ernesto Molinari has been the clarinet tutor at Darmstadt since 2000.
