hand werk – appearing at the Summer Course for the first time – will present a program in Darmstadt whose composition follows music-immanent criteria; the quality of the music and the overall dramaturgy of the concert were the sole factors in putting the program together. Instead of convincing listeners with extra-musical concepts or thematic specifications, hand werk will rely on combining uneasy, demanding pieces with entertaining ones within the classical concert format, employing everyday objects and traditional objects in equal measure. The development and cultivation of the most recent repertoire is one of the ensemble’s own objectives. In this concert, hand werk will expand its spectrum with two planned premieres by Niklas Seidl and Wieland Hoban, and in the latter the ensemble will receive support from the composer himself and further guest musicians.
