lecture–discussion–discourse

A forum for current topics and issues: The format lecture–discussion–discourse at the 47th Darmstadt Summer Course is meant to serve as a platform for information, exchange and discourse in real time. In a variety of lectures, presentations and panels, tutors as well as selected guests will introduce aesthetical concepts, deal with controversial statements and enter into a dialogue with the audience.

The lectures are planned as concise presentations of artistic respectively scientific approaches, which should lead to lively debates with the audience.

This year’s issue of the series Constellations, hosted by Stefan Fricke and Michael Rebhahn, is devoted to the topic “tradition”. In six talks Fricke/Rebhahn are meeting two guests each: Peter Ablinger, Hans-Joachim Hespos, Johannes Kreidler, Harry Lehmann and Martin Schüttler among others have been invited.

Finally, a musicological/historical view on the phenomenon Darmstadt is given at the Basel–Berlin Research Day. Members of the research projects “Focus Darmstadt” (University of Music Basel) and “Ereignis Darmstadt” (Berlin University of the Arts) are presenting initial results of their studies.

Another discourse format at the 47th Summer Course is the Darmstadt Forum (deadline for applications: 31 March), curated by Ashley Fure and Steven Takasugi.
