Studio for Voice in Contemporary Music I
Workshops for vocal solo and chamber music by
Donatienne Michel-Dansac and Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart
Course with selection procedure
Tutor: Donatienne Michel-Dansac
"My workshop is intended for singers – male or female voice –, technically confirmed. No need of experience in contemporary music except the desire to discover and study this wonderful and rich repertoire. The choice of repertoire is free. Your scores (PDF) and choices will have to be sent at the latest four weeks before the Darmstadt Summer Course.
Especially new pieces of young composers are welcome. If instrumentalists are needed (which is advisable to do so), you will be in touch with instrument classes in order to find interested Summer Course participants.
OPEN SPACE – different venues opened all day long until the end of the Summer Course – allows you to subscribe and propose your own project, showcase, alone or with others, even for a few minutes. Do not hesitate to use this tool.
I will also suggest repertoire after the selection process: The focus will be put on new ,languages‘ in contemporary vocal music for solo voice or instrumental chamber music with voice. The class will take place every day in individual lessons but also group work in order to discuss the many different approaches to the scores."
After your registration, please send the following material as soon as possible to:
– 2 recent audio and/or video files: 1 piece with classical repertoire, 1 piece with contemporary repertoire, even an excerpt is possible if you are a newcomer in this kind of repertoire
– short CV
– repertoire list
– your suggested repertoire for the Darmstadt Summer Course
The course fee will only be charged after the confirmation by the tutor. Applicants will be informed by IMD by 15 May 2016 latest.
Please note: The specific repertoire for contemporary vocal chamber music will be featured by Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart in a special project. Both workshops by Donatienne Michel-Dansac and Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart correspond with each other and allow participants to work in both classes, no matter for which workshop they have signed in.
