Furrer, Eva (Flute & Yoga)

Born 1965 in Judenburg/Austria, studied at the Kunstuniversität in Graz and at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna with Wolfgang Schulz. Soon thereafter she received the Award of Appreciation for outstanding artistic achievement from the Austrian Ministry of Science and Research. After several years of orchestral engagements Eva Furrer specialized in contemporary music and  became a member of Klangforum Wien in 1990. Solo appearances at the most eminent international music festivals, among others, with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Klangforum Vienna, the Vienna RSO and Lucerne Festival Orchestra under such conductors as Sylvain Cambreling, Peter Eötvös, Beat Furrer, Heinz Holliger and Hans Zender. Other areas of specialization are improvisation, the expansion of flute technique on rare instruments (contrabass flute), and yoga instruction for instrumentalists and composers.


Eva Furrer is a co-founder and lecturer of impulse – Internationally ensemble and Composers Academy for Contemporary Music at the Kunstuniversität in Graz.

 

2016 marks Eva Furrer’s fourth stint as lecturer at the International Summer Course for New Music in Darmstadt.
