In the course of the 46th International Summer Course for New Music Darmstadt Lucas Fels (Faculty Violoncello), Hans Thomalla (Faculty Composition) and Ensemble Dal Niente (Chicago) will offer a workshop for composers. From 133 applications the faculty nominated the following composers for participation:

Teresa Carrasco, Santiago Tomas Diez-Fischer, Michael Duffy,

Mauricio Pauly, Christopher Trapani and Daniel Vezza. 

The nominated composers are asked to provide sketches or parts of a new or existing work for Ensemble Dal Niente (list of the available instruments tba.) by October 15, 2011.

In the workshop questions of interpretation and composition will be discussed (e.g. extended techniques, performance techniques, methods of coordination in chamber music, notation, aesthetics etc.).

The second phase will take place during the 46th Summer Course for New Music in Darmstadt between July 14 and 28, 2012. The completed new works will then be rehearsed and discussed in several workshop sessions during

the Summer Course in Darmstadt, with the possibility of a final workshop concert.
