Strategies in Music and Art Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt – May 13 - September 9, 2012
September 5, 2012 marks the 100th birthday of John Cage, one of the most important composers and thinkers of music in the 20th century. Cage pushed the boundaries of music, and her relation to other art fields and to everyday life, to an unprecedented degree. Together with Satie, Duchamp, and Beuys he can be counted among the great strategists of music and art in the 20th century. With these epoch-making figures as the point of departure, this exhibition on the Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt will feature illuminating soundspaces, projections, objects, paintings and installations, allowing the visitor to experience the parallel strategies of music and art in history and in the present day.
A presenation of the Mathildenhöhe Institute Darmstadt, in cooperation with the International Institute of Music Darmstadt
Access to the exhibit is without charge for all participants of the Darmstadt Summer Courses 2012. |
